My Plum, My Duck
New to the scene in May 2017, My Plum, My Duck is committed to serving locally-sourced, organic meals, with a heavy focus on vegan-friendly dishes. The daily lunch and dinner menus offer an array of fresh, inventive salads, soups and vegan mains, including a daily Macrobiotic Plate, Veggie Burger and Raw Plate. The Vegan Charcuterie Board is not-to-be-missed, but for those wanting to have an omnivore experience, the resto also offers a daily Sea Plate.

Stir It Up
New to the downtown Charlottetown scene in 2018, Stir It Up shares a space (and hip vibes) with Back Alley Music at 257 Queen St. Offering a completely vegan menu with local and organic ingredients, Stir It Up is the perfect respite for those in search of scrumptious-but-healthy eats including salads, soups, sandwiches, snacks and desserts. Do note that this tasty spot is primarily a takeaway counter, so you’ll want to scope out a picnic location or pack your to-go items in the beach hamper!

The Kettle Black
This popular cafe on lower Queen Street is a well-loved spot for locals in need of a caffeinated way to start their day. Their food menu also deserves props for its locally-sourced ingredients and many vegetarian-friendly options, which include the Falafel Bowl, Roasted Vegetable Baguette, and Halloumi Wrap. Plenty of daily sweets and soups are also vegetarian or vegan-friendly.

HopYard
This beloved watering hole in downtown Charlottetown offers a large selection of craft brews and a revolving menu that changes every two weeks. Everything on the menu is $8 or less and the menu is colour coded, directing those in search of vegetarian-friendly dishes to items highlighted in green. Sharing and sampling different menu items is encouraged and most of the veggie dishes can be made vegan upon request.

The Charlottetown Farmers’ Market
Open Saturdays throughout the year and Wednesdays from late June to mid-October, the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market is a hub for those in search of fresh, local fare from Island farmers and chefs. Whether you want to stock up the cottage kitchen, pack for a beach picnic or enjoy a full-fledged lunch, the Market has got you covered. Vendors serving up vegetarian-friendly meals include Pembroke Farms, Out of Africa and The Hearth, but be sure to explore the entire market, as vendors and menus change often!
