An all-star group of Island musicians present the world premiere of Adam Hill’s concert-length chamber-folk suite Hard Times Come Again. A genre-bending song cycle with lyrics sourced from historical and modern oral history, the piece tells stories of hope and transformation that link the Great Depression with the contemporary era. Stacked with some of the best musicians around, The Hard Times Orchestra features Charlottetown Festival favourites Brielle Ansems and Cameron MacDuffee, all five members of Atlantic String Machine, and Maritime music scene stalwarts Chris Corrigan, Nick Doneff, and Morgan Saulnier. Writing about Adam Hill’s music, The Grapevine says, “the songwriting is hands-down brilliant, lyrics filled with sensitivity and humour. If you thought folk music was simple, think again.
