Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™
June 25 – September 5 | Sobey Family Theatre at Confederation Centre of the Arts
Every second summer, something wonderful happens in Charlottetown. A train pulls into Bright River Railway Station. A red-haired girl with freckles and far to much imagination steps onto the platform. And just like that, Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™ reminds us why we fell in love with theatre in the first place.
What follows is a story that’s funny, moving, and deeply human: a child finding their place in the world, and a family discovering that love sometimes arrives when – and how – you least expect it.
With a 28-member company and a wonderful 14-piece live orchestra, this iconic production fills the Sobey Family Theatre with music, laughter, and heart. It’s no wonder millions have made it a summer tradition at Confederation Centre of the Arts.
There’s magic in coming back to Anne. What made you laugh years ago might hit a little deeper now. A line you barley noticed before suddenly lands right in the heart. The story grows as you do, and every cast brings new engrgy to a tale that feels as fresh as ever.
For families, it’s the kind of show everyone can agree on. Kids are swept up by Anne’s imagination and misadventures. Parents see the tenderness, the humour, and the quiet moments of love that make Avonlea feel like home.
Bringing young audiences to Anne is meaningful. For many young people, this is their first big live musical, the one they remember years later as the moment theatre truly clicked. Anne Shirley speaks directly to youth: about finding your voice, embracing who you are, and daring to imagine more.
Seeing this story unfold live on stage, with a live orchestra and vibrant ensemble, is something that stays with you long after the final curtain call.
Thanks to youth pricing it is also affordable to share that experience. Patrons 15 and under are only $15 and 30 and under are just $30.
So, whether you’re returning to Green Gables or introducing Anne to someone new, this summer is the perfect time to laugh, listen, and fall in love all over again.
Because some stories don’t age. They grow with us.
