Ever wonder if two nights is enough time to experience the best of Charlottetown? Well, we’re happy to report that it is! From cruising around by bicycle to sipping cocktails on rooftops to zipping around on jet skis, New Brunswick’s Janik Robichaud recently took us along for the ride during her jam-packed July weekend. Keep scrolling for all the highlights from her vacation in our seaside city.
STAY: Check in to Fairholm Boutique Inns. This wonderful collection of inns really needs no introduction. EAT: Stop for lunch along the waterfront at Founders’ Food Hall and Market, a former historic train station that’s been transformed into a gorgeous indoor market. It’s filled with lots yummy food vendors and other talented artisans selling their creations.
Local Tip: Visit Stir It Up PEI, a 100% vegan kitchen, and order the ‘Mooless Mac’ – it is to-die-for! You won’t even miss the meat. And for dessert, try the funky gourmet donuts at Doughnuts by Design.
DO: Rent bikes with Funwheel Rentals. They offer 1, 2 and 3-hour rentals on their two and four-person tandem Surrey bikes tandem bikes and up to 8-hour rentals on their individual mountain bikes.
Local Tip: Visit Nimrods’ for a cocktail on their floating dock, Victoria Park for stunning views, Red Island Cider for yummy PEI cider, and bar1911 Beer + Coffee for a snack while out on your cycling adventure.
DO: Stop on Victoria Row for live music & cocktails at Fishies on the Roof, the city’s only rooftop patio with stunning views of St. Dunstan’s Basilica Cathedral. Filled with lots of outdoor eateries, lovely boutiques and cool art galleries, you’ll love the live music that’s presented every day from noon until 10pm and the buzz this pedestrian breezeway creates in the summer months.
EAT: Dinner with a view. When supper time rolls around, head to the Charlottetown Yacht Club where Salt & Sol Restaurant & Bar serves up the most beautiful views of the Charlottetown Harbour, tasty food & drinks, and an overall amazing summer vibe.
DO: Shop till you drop. Start your morning off with a styling session at JEMS Boutique. Part of their Sip, Shop & Stay package in collaboration with the Hotel on Pownal, JEMS carries designer brands, as well as their own collection, the “Go2 Clothing Line” which features stunning linen pieces, perfect for summer lovin’!
EAT: Go for brunch at The Brickhouse Kitchen & Bar. Located in a restored heritage building on Sydney Street, the Brickhouse features an open-concept kitchen, extensive lunch & dinner menu, and weekend brunch starting at 10am.
DO: Go on 2-hour jet ski tour with PEI Jet Ski Tours & Flyboarding. Head out of the Charlottetown Harbour, past the stunning red cliffs, sailboats and Victorian homes, and into the clean waterways that connect Charlottetown to the rest of PEI. Try a guided tour or rent jet skis and explore on your own!
DO: Have Happy Hour at Peake’s Quay Restaurant from 3-5pm. They also offer $1 oysters every day until 5pm (expect for Wednesdays when they have $1 oysters all day long). From there you can stop over at Confederation Landing for our Waterfront Music Series, which has live music performances from 2-4pm and again from 6-8pm every day. And if you’re in the mood for EVEN MORE live music, head down Water Street and check out the Merchantman’s Next Door Lounge patio.

EAT: For a tasty meal on the town, make a reservation at Slaymaker & Nichols Gastro House. Not only does this hip new restaurant have an incredible cocktail menu and tasteful decor with a vintage twist, but its menu leaves you wanted more with tasty items like their Mushroom Avocado Tower and Chicken Aji Verde.
Local Tip: Dine under the stars on their brand new streetside patio.
