The PEI Symphony Orchestra’s 2022-23 concert season is here! Beginning on October 16th, The PEI Symphony’s 2022-23 season opens with a performance of Brahms’s Symphony No. 1 in C Minor, and, after much anticipation, soloist Justin Amador will at last be featured in Franz Strauss’s Horn Concerto in C Minor. Additionally, the orchestra will perform Hymn for Everyone by acclaimed NYC-based composer Jessie Montgomery, whose profoundly felt works have been described as “turbulent, wildly colorful and exploding with life.”

Concert Schedule and Programming

Concert #1: October 16th 2022: Redemption 
We open with a performance of Brahms’s Symphony No. 1 in C Minor, and, after much anticipation, soloist Justin Amador will at last be featured in Franz Strauss’s Horn Concerto in C Minor. Additionally the orchestra will perform NYC-based composer Jessie Montgomery’s Hymn for Everyone.

Concert #2: January 22nd 2023: Mahler’s Musings
Our second concert centres on Mahler’s epic Symphony No. 5 (reduction by Yoon Jae Lee), paired with the lighthearted and colourful Baby-Serenade for Orchestra op. 24 by Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

Concert #3: March 5th 2023: Goodnight Moon
PEI’s Karem J. Simon takes up the baton as the Guest Conductor at the March 5th concert, leading the orchestra through works by Bizet, Beethoven, Champagne, and more. The concert will also feature vocalists Hannah O’Donnell and Jillian Clow performing a variety of classic operatic repertoire.

Concert #4: April 16th 2023: Reflections 
The season concludes with April 16th’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 and star pianist Sarah Hagen performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3!
