1. Confederation Landing

A lively six-acre waterfront space with marina views, gardens, and benches for watching the boats go by. Home to seasonal markets, festivals, and cultural celebrations year-round, it’s a favourite gathering place framed by historic landmarks and harbour activity.

2. Victoria Park

The city’s crown jewel of green spaces, featuring a waterfront boardwalk, wooded trails, sports courts, playgrounds, skateboard park, and a pool and splash pad. A go-to for everything from quiet walks to active afternoons. The Kiwanis Dairy Bar along the parkway offers a tasty respite on those steamy summer days.

3. Orlebar Park

A quint neighbourhood green space perfect for a quiet escape, with open lawns, benches, and shaded areas. Ideal for a relaxed afternoon, picnic, or peaceful stroll – plus coffee and cider at nearby bar1911 Beer + Coffee and The 5th Wave Espresso & Tea Bar.

4. Queen Elizabeth Park

A riverside park on the city’s west side with baseball diamonds, a soccer pitch, playground, and gazebo. A spacious setting for sports, family time, and community games.

5. The Legacy Garden

An impressive 8.5-acre community green space featuring garden plots, sunflower fields, accessible planting areas, and striking urban beehives. A beautiful blend of sustainability and community connection.

Historic Squares & Peaceful Strolls

6. Rochford Square

This 4-hectare Victorian-style garden offers a peaceful retreat with walking paths, ornate flower beds, and benches. It also hosts events like the Island Tides Yoga & Wellness Festival and Art in the Open throughout the year.

7. Connaught Square

This darling green space, located on the west side of downtown, has large trees, asphalt pathways, and plenty of playgrounds equipment for little ones.

8. Hillsborough Square

Located on the east side of the city where Hillsborough and Richmond Streets intersect, this square is home to a playground, mature trees (perfect for reading a book underneath), and asphalt paths that criss-cross the square.

9. King’s Square

This green space may have fewer amenities than other downtown squares, but it offers a peaceful pause from exploring. Take a break on the squares five oversized bronze chairs, which honour Mark Butcher, a local furniture maker from the 1800s.
