Cue the core memories! Whether you’re a planner at heart or prefer to fly by the seat of your pants, there is so much wonder waiting for you and your littles to discover in Charlottetown.
Spend time admiring the stunning artwork adorning the walls (on three levels) of the Confederation Centre’s National Art Gallery. Step back in time with a guided tour of the city by the Heritage Players Historic Walking Tours. This summer, history comes alive with the grand reopening of Province House. Families can explore newly restored spaces, interactive exhibits, and engaging programming that brings the past to life. For more history, Beaconsfield Historic House a fascinating glimpse into 19th-century life in Charlottetown. Pop into Blank Canvas Art Supplies, a wonderfully creative store located in the Confederation Court Mall. Or, roam the downtown core and find several outdoor murals for those picture-perfect family photo-ops.
Play the day away in Victoria Park, which has a public pool, splash pad, and an accessible playground with 9,000 square feet of fun. Rainy days call for a visit to the Aquatics Facility at the Bell Aliant Centre, which features a large swimming pool, a leisure pool, hot tub, giant water slide, diving boards, and more. Or, head to the beach! Supervised beaches within the PEI National Park are never more than a short drive away.
Find a 18-hole mini putt golf course within the Confederation Court Mall. Challenge the crew to a round of glow bowling at The Alley. Head to PonyBoat Social Club for interactive games and carnival-inspired snacks. Explore creative learning at STEAM PEI, a hotspot for “edutainment” workshops. Stop in to Owl’s Hollow Playland in the north end of the city where the kids can let their imaginations run wild playing pretend, building, tinkering, and creating in their art studio. Parents, don’t miss the café and smoothie bar! Spend time gaming and reliving childhood memories at 7s Pinballorama. Visit Off the Wallz Trampoline Park in Stratford for hours of bouncy fun in their state-of-the-art facility.

Check out the new Charlottetown Learning Library Centre—home to a full-service Vietnamese coffee bar by The Shed, fun kids’ programs, and rentals from books to skates and snowshoes. Founders’ Food Hall & Market is a family hub year-round. Skate on the outdoor rink in winter, catch movie nights in the fall, or enjoy live music on the patio in summer. Peake’s Quay is a lively waterfront spot with music, green space, shops, and restaurants. Kids can roam while parents soak up the summer vibes and harbour views. Island Hill Farm in Warren Grove, just 20 minutes away, might be the happiest place on earth—with goats, baby bunnies, and a cozy café, it’s pure joy for all ages. Only 10 minutes from downtown, Jewell’s Country Market offers a lush greenhouse, farm market, gift shop, goats, local ice cream, a giant bouncy pillow, and a licensed beer garden. A picture-perfect mini escape.
One of my absolute favourite places to bring family and friends. There’s just something so special about wandering through all the delicious food options, browsing the Island-made shops, and soaking in the lively atmosphere.
The kids keep asking to go back here. It’s easy, fun, and packed with arcade games, that keep everyone entertained without trying to hard.
This whole area buzzes with family-and kid-freindly vibes – especially the Floating Dock. At Jc’s Tiki Bar, I can sip a spicy margarita while the kids dig into the beach volleyball court or swing on the seaside swings. We usually cap it off with cones from the famous COWS Ice Cream.
This is our go-to place that never disappoints. I love their huge outdoor patio in the summer (and sometimes winter), and the kids are always happy thanks to their great kids’ menu. I dream about their Nashville Chicken Sandwich, Haddock Tacoes, and fresh-cut fries. No matter how many great places we try around town, we always find ourselves coming back here.
This is easily one of my favourite beaches. I love the unique landscape of the dunes, the soft sand, and the way the shoreline feels both wide-open and peaceful at the same time. It’s the perfect spot to spend a summer day, especially with the bonus of beachside food, drinks, and sweet treats just steps away.
