Snowshoes in the City

We created our Snowshoes In The City Trail Guide in 2017 to help spark some additional winter adventure and show off a more wintery side of our island. In September of 2022, our Island had been hit with the destruction of hurricane Fiona, a devastation that continues to affect the Island’s lifestyle (and trails) in many ways.

As our community & clean-up teams continue to work towards restoration, we recommend you use our trail guide as inspiration only, and please check each respective trail for updated conditions before pursuing your trek.

Enjoy a unique winter experience with Snowshoes in the City! Stay with a participating Charlottetown hotel or inn and you can take advantage of complimentary loaner snowshoes during your visit. Trek around the city after a fresh snowfall or venture into the countryside and discover the vast beauty of PEI.

Free Snowshoe Lending at City Hall

Visit the Charlottetown Parks & Recreation Office (199 Queen Street) between Monday and Friday to borrow a pair of FREE snowshoes. There are a limited number of snowshoes available on a first come first serve basis. Snowshoes must be returned by 3:00 pm the following business day.
